Westminster Christian Academy ready for August opening

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

A portion of sod from Busch Stadium’s field, removed to accommodate the U2 concert stage, now graces the athletic fields and school perimeter of the new Westminster Christian Academy campus in Town and Country.

The sod is just one example of the meticulous attention to detail that went into designing and building the $70 million campus, which will open next month.

$70 million school construction provides economic boost

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

The word “big” only begins to describe the new Westminster Christian Academy.

A 2,000-seat arena, two smaller gyms and an eight-lane swimming pool. Two theaters, a 400-seat cafe and a hundred classrooms. And the list goes on.

The 320,000-square-foot school is among the St. Louis area’s largest recent construction projects. Initial enrollment will exceed 900 – up from 872 last year – but the school can accommodate 1,200 students in grades seven through 12.

The $70 million school, scheduled to open for classes Aug. 22, has been a boost to the area’s struggling construction industry. The privately financed development has provided 14 months of much-needed work for more than 150 people employed by project manager Brinkmann Constructors and its subcontractors.

Did we reach the $15 million pledge milestone?

Friday, October 1st, 2010

This is the question everyone in the Westminster Christian Academy community is asking today.

We are humbled and overwhelmed to report what God has done through the prayers and decisions of His people. We began the week with $13.4 million in pledges. As of this morning, we have $15,684,182 in total campaign pledges For Such A Time As This.

Like the prophet Samuel, we raise our Ebenezer today as a memorial to the provision of our gracious God and say, “Thus far has the Lord helped us.” (I Samuel 7:12) Thus far the Lord has helped us indeed.

We confess that we struggled with doubts, fears, and worries as the September 30 milestone crept up the calendar. We started to grapple with the question, “Will we have to stop construction?” Construction could not extend beyond September 30 without the financing made available; it could only progress if we reached the $15 million milestone. Tough decisions would have to be made if the Lord didn’t move in a mighty way.

We are grateful to report that God, despite our fears and weakness, has blessed Westminster by moving within the hearts of so many to give and pledge. We hope that you are encouraged today to find yourself in the middle of an amazing movement of God that will help Westminster move forward in “preparing more young people to engage the world and change if for Jesus Christ.”

I encourage you to praise God today for His faithfulness in transforming Westminster’s plans and vision into reality. This isn’t a result of great strategy, huge fundraising events, some sort of brilliant plan or the efforts of only a handful of people. While we strive, together, to do our best and plan our way forward, it is God who directs our steps. God is working through His people — not just a few, but now, hundreds. We are so grateful to every family who has hosted a Community Meeting in their home and to the hundreds of families who have attended. We are so thankful for the letters, emails and phone calls we receive from families across America who are stepping forward to become a part of this effort.

God is not finished yet. We have milestones still ahead of us. There are still so many people who need to hear this story, God’s story, of what He is doing in the lives of people through Westminster. There are still many people for us to encourage, saying, “Come hear about and see what God is doing!” Community Meetings are still being scheduled every day as we continue to press forward and trust God for the December 31, 2010 milestone of $20 million. But today, let’s pause and celebrate what God is doing!

Thank you for all your prayers, all your efforts, and all you are doing to make a difference. Praise God for His faithfulness and amazing provision for Westminster Christian Academy.
